"American Idol" judge Simon Cowell had a one-on-one interview with Oprah Winfrey -- where he blamed Paula Abdul for the show's ratings drop ... and explained why the newly engaged star now wants a five-year-old baby!

Simone would be missing out for sure. Babies are so much fun! from one year old, to two, to three, and four. I love those stages they are the most sweet and innocent then. :)
