LeAnn's Cover: "A Terrible Mistake"
Shape magazine's editor-in-chief has been forced to apologize to readers for featuring homewrecker LeAnn Rimes on its October cover, acknowledging it was a "terrible mistake" in an email exclusively obtained by TooFab, sent out to some readers.
Some readers were mortified that Rimes -- who has admitted to cheating on ex-husband Dean Sheremet with then-married "CSI" hunk Eddie Cibrian -- was glorified on the fitness magazine's cover with the sympathetic coverline, "LeAnn Rimes: How Working Out Saved Me."
TooFab has obtained the email that the magazine's editor-in-chief, Valerie Latona sent to those who expressed outrage over the cover:
Subject: To my dear Shape readers
You are all in good company (why I'm e-mailing you all together) as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover.
Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal-but to show (through her story) how we all are human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment.
But it did not come across that way ... And for that I'm terribly sorry.
I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance.
Humbly,
Valerie

It's interesting that "man" can put themselves on a higher pedestal than others and gain an ego of judgement. "Pick the plank out of your eye before you can pick plank out of another". I AM NOT JUSTIFYING!! Committing adultery against her husband was wrong, but her sin is between herself and God and the judgement must come from God and not from man. Everyone makes mistakes. We live in sin. Do we know right from wrong? Yes, but do we always do right? No. But does it give us the right to judge? No, but it gives us the right to forgive and counsel the individual.
First and foremost, in any business professionalism ought to be carried out in a manor that suites the business reputation. If the magazine knew that Rhymes reputation was smeared and doing business with her was going to be a potential drop of revenue and stir up controversy, then why do business with her in the first place? The magazine's editor-in-chief, Valerie Laton should have known better than to put out an email written like that. The email was typed horribly and not professionally. From the it was typed, I perceived it was typed under pressure from her superiors to fix the situation with the consumers (broad way of thinking vs. a narrow way). That e-mail can cause an legal issue between Rhymes and the magazine. Discriminating and damaging of reputation or verbal assault or harassment (anything goes in America) which can cause the company to write a retraction and even a pay out or a settlement to the country singer.

Well controversy always sells, so I'm sure the magazine got a lot more attention and sold a few more copies than it usually wood, by getting people talking about it... clever move, but sad they had to humiliate their cover star...
I'm not saying Leann Rimes is a saint, but its not like she killed anyone (like Brandy did), or beat someone up (like Chris Brown did), she made the age old mistake adultery ... oh big deal - get over it... it's her business and if u choose to pry into it and judge her, then you are just as guilty as she is... at least she owned up to her mistakes...

That is a poor excuse for an apology, period. My wife and I just received Shape as a gift and that issue was our first issue. Needless to say, we called the publishers to cancel our free subscription. On top of that, we never got that email, yet another strike. Horrible magazine with a twisted view on advise regarding health that is ignorantly crass in it's approach to it's readers.
Get a clue Shape.

If I were Le-Anne I'd be worried. Cause Karma is real and its a bitch. And what he'll do with you, he'll do to you.

Please. First of all, learn how to type correctly people! Second, Shape Magazine is pathetic. Who cares that they put Ms. Rimes on the cover of their magazine! Don't apologize Shape!! Who cares about certain emails you received from offended people! Ignore it, and grow some balls for heaven's sake!

I am appalled that this magazine would apologize to anyone regarding LeAnn. She does not need to apologize to anyone - I doubt she hurt any of you morons personally. Get a life -

Who are these woman to judge another woman........ Some people are forced to play out their personal lives in public. I think Leann Rimes is a far stronger person that most. For her talents as a performer and having to put on a thick skin thru all the critics throughout her life. From the time she was 13, it mortifies me to see grown women " bully" others whom they have not walked a mile in their shoes.....empathy, and minding your own business versus namecallingof " home wrecker ". Leave her alone
