Although "American Idol" glammed up the judges panel this season by adding Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, it appears to have done little to boost the ratings: Last night's season premiere drew 13 percent less viewers than last year's season opener.
According to the Nielsen Co., 26.1 million people watched the two-hour season premiere, compared with 29.9 million people for last year's season premiere.
Nielsen Co. also reported that "Idol" had an 18 percent drop in the "youthful" audience.
