Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Wed

The couple married on Friday night in a small island ceremony in front of 35 family and friends, People exclusively reports.

The ceremony was apparently a surprise.

"Nobody knew where they were going," Minnillo, 30, told People.

"Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was ‘island chic.’ It was all very vague," said Lachey, 37.

The bride wore a two-piece Monique Lhullier ensemble while Nick Lachey wore a Dolce & Gabbana suit.

It is the first marriage for Minnillo and the second for Lachey, who was famously married to Jessica Simpson.

TLC will be televising their wedding in a special entitled "Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding," airing on July 30.
