'Glee' Star in Controversial New Photo Shoot

"Glee's" ditzy cheerleader Brittany is all bruised in a brand new photo shoot with Tyler Shields -- and it's got some online fans in an uproar!

Heather Morris sports a serious black eye and, in one photo, is seen tied up with an iron cord in the controversial spread posted on Shields' website. The inspiration behind the shoot: Even Barbie bruises.

"So wait… we’re glamorizing bruises/abuse now?" one commenter writes on Tyler's message board.

Another commenter writes, "There is absolutely nothing new or revelatory about pics like this ... They just perpetuate images of battered women. Can you please explain why you’re so stuck in the dark ages?"

Shields is sticking up for his work though, telling TooFab "It was something we both wanted to do, a bruised up Barbie. In no way were we promoting domestic violence. We both loved the idea and we both love the photos."

Calls to Morris' rep weren't immediately returned.

Controversy is nothing new to the young photographer -- he previously photographed Lindsay Lohan pointing a gun in her mouth.

really? like how in what shape or form is domestic violence shown here? i'm also a survivor of domestic abuse and i don't think that it has anything to do with this. woohoo a male hand is in the picture; there are males handing females drinks in advertisements, do those show date rape? someone just wanted to make something out of nothing and now everyone is letting it blur their own vision.

There are just some photo shoots that self respecting women should not consider doing. There have to be some truly artistically non demeaning methods of earning money by photographers that aren't just copying others for their own sensationalism. My burises were not ever considered artistic. They hurt and endangered my life!!

Why does everyone seem to think that this is glamorizing domestic abuse? You know, women are quite capable of bruising in other ways apart from being beaten by men. She could play a lot of contact sports, maybe she's clumsy. She could be a really avid MMA fighter for all we know. There are several possible backstories for this photo shoot, so don't go automatically assuming the worst possible scenario. I don't particularly care for the pictures, but I'm not about to turn it around and accuse them both of glamorizing battered women with little proof.

Did anyone think they might be trying to bring domestic violence into the light? I mean think about it? EVEN Barbie bruses... I see it as them saying DON'T hit because it hurts everyone... even a Barbie. Stop being so negative about everything that's put out there and try and see it for what it is.

We are becoming an overly sensatized country!!! I did not look at these pics and think "wow domestic violence is so cool!" People are ******* ****ty little whistleblowing ***** these days. It's called art and yes it dramatizes things. How do we know this woman in the pics wasn't hit in the face playing soccor? We r assuming douchebags! I love the pic where she drinks the water from the iron. People are stupid and I'll punch you in the face if you disagree with me! lol get a life and get a grip!

Looks like Sheilds jumped on the band wagon of what the Canadian salon is getting so much attention for right now. He's quick to have turned this around must have saw it on Perez and thought "time for a photoshoot!". Don't know how I feel about that. Is he taking something they did and trying to make it a trend? Wonder if he's also now receiving death threats like the young woman who owns the Canadian salon.

I hope she doesn't sell herself short and gets a taste of real domestic violence to "get into character." A real black eye, missing teeth, broken jaw and cigarette burns would make it extra-artistic.

There is nothing & should be nothing glamorous about domestic violence. And should not be presented in a glamous light in any form or forum. It is definitely highly offensive to anyone who has had to live through any form of this violence.

Art imitates life. Everyone's in an uproar over the fact that they've taking pictures depicting something that actually happens? Barbie is the ideal women for little girls. She's got a nice house and car and man and nothing goes wrong, but that's not the real world. So showing that even Barbie bruises is a good way of commenting on how the real world is no really portrayed through entertainment. Suck it up and get over it.
