Johnny Depp Goes Vampire on 'Dark Shadows' Set

Hope vampire fatigue hasn't set in yet -- because we've got your first look at Johnny Depp on the set of the "Dark Shadows" film adaptation today ... and he's looking seriously supernatural.

Depp was seen in full costume and makeup as Barnabas Collins Tuesday in the UK, sporting a fedora, cane and an extremely white face.

Barnabas was played by Jonathan Frid (inset) in the original TV show, which ran from 1966-1971.

The film once again re-teams Depp with frequent collaborator Tim Burton -- who must really love seeing Johnny with pale skin. See: "Edward Scissorhands," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Edward Scissorhands" and "Sweeney Todd."

"Shadows" will co-star Helena Bonham-Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Chloe Moretz and Jackie Earle Haley and is slated for a May 2012 release.

And is it just us, or does Depp look a bit like Jack Nicholson's Joker from "Batman," which Burton also directed?

Oh Dear God! What the f happened here? Depp looks RIDICULOUS. I had such high hopes for this movie but if this is how he looks in it I have a feeling this is going to be a remake along the lines of "Land of the Lost" with Will Ferrell destroying a cherished 70's television franchise.

Way too heavy on the white makeup. But surprisingly he looks very much like a overly made up Peter Facinelli. Very similar looking facial features. A Carlisle Cullen wannabe.

Stop criticize Johnny please!He is a good actor and he knows what he is doing,and this is not the first time we see him with lot of make up,what is the bid deal?Wait and see, and stop saying anything online.The same thing happened to the Mad Hatter then that movie was a big hit ..I'd like the Dark Shadows will be a huge hit too,I hope so!

Everyone does need to CALM THE F*** DOWN! Vampires are supposed to be pale and unnatural. This is what "Twiight" has done to you. Sparkly gay vampires were the new norm. Gotta get back to how they originally looked. I'm a fan of Johnny and think he'll do great. I would let him bite my neck any day of the week. My mom was a fan of the show. Please don't pass judgement based on this pic. Y'all shouldn't take things to offense or too seriously. I mean, come on. GROW UP, PEOPLE! Give it a chance. Love ya, Johnny! I'll be there on opening day!
