Tuesday night's elimination on "Dancing With the Stars" produced yet another shocker.
Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas, who were consistently among the strongest performers, we eliminated after the audience vote. Joining them in the bottom were Hope Solo and her professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya.
The lowest scoring couple from Monday -- Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer -- were safe. Chaz's mother Cher tweeted she would attend the show next week if her son survived this weeks elimination.
With 24/30 points (straight 8's from the judges) for their samba, Cavallari and Ballas didn't seem to be at risk. But despite solid routines and praise, audiences chose to vote for others.
When the results were read, even the judges were shocked.
"This is truly crazy," Len Goodman declared over boos from the audience.
"I'm a little surprised to be honest but I've had such a great time and it's been such an awesome experience," Cavallari said.
"I was really proud of Kristin," Ballas followed. "She had great potential and she killed it last night. I'm honored to be her partner."
It's been a tough few days for Ballas. His car was broken into and his childhood guitar was stolen earlier in the week. Having won the Mirror Ball trophy twice before -- with Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson -- he appeared visibly upset after being eliminated so early in the competition.
Nine couples remain in the hunt for the Mirror Ball trophy.
