"American Idol" Ratings: How Much Did They Drop?
The ratings are in ... and "American Idol" has lost quite a few viewers this year.
The 11th season premiere on Wednesday night had 21.6 million viewers and a 7.2 demo rating -- a 18% and 26% decrease from last season's premiere, according to TV Line.
This is the biggest drop between seasons in the show's history.
Of course, the show still dominated over everything else on TV last night ... so it's not exactly a failure.
So what went wrong? In a world of "Idol," "The Voice" and "The X Factor," are people finally starting to get sick of singing competitions?

Didn't tune in because I DVR's it so I would be able to fast forward through all the crappy filler.

There is soooo much bs before they EVEN get to the contestants,.....and what makes it worse is Ryan Seacrest,.....what makes him the untramilliondollar man,...he has no real talent to speak of.I used to really loved they way AI worked up to performances,by showing auditions,....especially the off the wall ones;they've cut that out and it's just boring. No fire, no excitement,....I mean really how many times can we watch Jennifer get chill bumps,.....really? Steven is entertainting, playing grab azz was entertaining in a way,.......but it is certainly NOT the AI I loved in the beginning,....it's sooooo passe.

Actually, Ryan is one of my favorite members of the "American Idol" cast. I was very surprised how easily and smoothly Jennifer fit into the show. I totally despise Randy and his "hey bro" and "listen, listen" BS. He hates when anyone, including contestants, gets more attention than he does. Steven is rather frightening to look at, but he's OK. I think whats wrong with the show is, just like NCIS, the show is getting old. The X Factor was smart in assigning groups of contestants to each judge, it made it a little more interesting. Plus you get to see what a really horrible judge Paula is.
