Friday's movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colorado sent shockwaves across the nation and created an outpouring of support to the victims.
Will the incident keep you and your family from watching "The Dark Knight Rises" in theaters this weekend?
Security has already been heightened in New York City.
"As a precaution against copycats and to raise the comfort levels among movie patrons in the wake of the horrendous shooting in Colorado, the New York City Police Department is providing coverage at theaters where the 'The Dark Knight Rises' is playing in the five boroughs," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said in a statement.
It remains to be seen what effect, if any, the shooting will have on the box office. Variety reports "The Dark Knight Rises" earned $28 million to $30 million from approximately 3,700 midnight locations. "The Avengers" earned $18.7 million in midnight sales.
