Actor, father, philanthropist ... furniture designer?
Architectural Digest has the first look at Brad Pitt's latest project: furniture.
The 48-year-old's passion for architecture and design are well known; his Make It Right foundation brought in renowned architects to design homes in Katrina-devastated New Orleans. Brad's collaborated with Frank Pollaro to create a nine-piece furniture collection.
The piece de resistance? An art deco bed made from tropical hardwoods that could easily accommodate the entire Jolie-Pitt clan.
Don't expect to find these pieces in your local showroom. The bed itself took two years to complete. Frank declined to discuss specific figures, but noted that his prices are “typically at the highest end of the custom-furnishings scale, and these will be up there, even north of that.”
However, he added certain pieces may be adapted for larger-scale production, in different and cheaper materials -- a chair in molded plastic, say. "The same chair we charge $45,000 for might sell for a fraction of that," he says.
We love the table with the metal base that resembles paper clips, but the two-person Statuario Venato marble tub looks like a bedpan. Check out all the pieces by clicking here and vote in our poll.
