Nicolas Cage Was Too Vain for "Shrek," Because a Flaming Skeleton Was So, So Much Better

Oh Nicolas Cage, are you even serious with this?

Because yes, guys, Nicolas Cage is totally serious with this: he claims he turned the role of Shrek down because he didn't want people to not take him seriously. And then he went and did not one, but two "Ghost Rider" movies with Eva Mendes. I'll let you think about that one for a second.

Here's what Nic had to say about taking on the legendary role of Shrek:

"We were talking about Shrek and I just didn't want to look like an ogre. Maybe I should have done it looking back."

Um, yes. Maybe you should have done it looking back, Nicolas Cage, and maybe then you wouldn't have gotten yourself in the situations that you've gotten yourself into over the last few years. Wouldn't everything be all happy and shiny and new, then? SHREK COULD HAVE CHANGED YOUR LIFE. Thought you knew.
