John Mayer's "Paper Doll" -- Dedicated to Taylor Swift?

0618_swift_launch
John Mayer's
new song might be about his ex, Taylor Swift.

There's a lot of buzz that his latest single "Paper Doll" is about the country singer -- and seems to reference some of the 23-year-old's lyrics.

"You're like 22 girls in one," Mayer sings in the song's chorus. Later adding, "Someone's gonna paint you another sky."

The connection? Taylor's latest single is titled "22," and in "Dear John" -- which is believed to be about Mayer -- she sings, "You paint me a blue sky, and go back and turn it to rain."

Take a listen below -- and yes, that is Joanna Rohrback of "Prancercise" fame in the video:

If the song is about the "22" singer, then John's a bit of a hypocrite.

Last year, in an interview with Rolling Stone, John told the mag that Swift's "Dear John" made him feel terrible, adding "I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting."

See the lyrics below -- do you think John's "Paper Doll" is about Taylor?

"Paper Doll" Lyrics:

Paper doll come try it on
Step out of that black chiffon
Here's a dress of gold and blue
Sure was fun being good to you

This one we made just for fall
And winter ends a bit too small
This mint green is new for spring
My love didn't cost a thing

You're like 22 girls in one
And none of them know what they're running from
Was it just too far to fall
For a little paper doll?

Fold a scarf Moroccan red
And tie your hair behind your head
Strap into some heels that hurt
You should have kept my undershirt

You're like 22 girls in one
And none of them know what they're running from
Was it just too far to fall
For a little paper doll?

Cut the cord and pull some strings
And make yourself some angel wings
And if those angel wings don't fly
Someone's gonna paint you another sky

'Cause you're like 22 girls in one
And none of them know what they're running from
Was it just too far to fall?
Was it just too far to fall?
