Billy Bob Thornton's still close with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie!
The "Fargo" star opens up about his relationship with Jolie in a new interview with YourTango.
"She's amazing, amazing," the actor said of Jolie. "She's got so much energy and so much goodness in her, and we check in on each other all the time."
"She makes sure I'm doing okay," he added, speaking about their current friendship. "I make sure she's doing okay."
The "Girl Interrupted" star was married to the "Armageddon" actor for two years, but the pair separated in 2002 and finalized their divorce in 2003.
Those two years were definitely intense! You may remember that the mother-of-six used to sport Billy's blood in a vial around her neck, and Thornton also wore hers in a matching necklace.
While the 58-year-old has expressed his sadness over the end of their marriage -- telling Nightline in 2012 that his own insecurities were the reason for their fallout -- Billy's in a great place today. His TV debut on FX's "Fargo" is getting rave reviews.
"For actors who really want to do good dramatic work or good work with dark humor and drama, you kind of have to do it on television," he tells the site about his latest gig.
"But it all comes down to the writing. While paying a great tribute to the movie 'Fargo' and having the same tone, this is its own fresh thing. And it was just so well written."
Billy also loves playing "Fargo's" Lorne Malvo. "He's truly an enigma. He's a mysterious stranger from out of town. Nobody knows why he's there, what he's up to, that kind of thing. He's not a typical bad guy. He's not only capable of very dangerous things, but he also is very mischievous and toys with people," he explains.
Well, we can't wait to see how "Fargo" unfolds! What do you think about Thornton's candid comments?
