A beauty who can kick butt!
Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez was crowned Miss USA 2014 on Sunday, which was broadcasted live from Baton Rouge Civic Center in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
The 24-year-old martial artist beat the fellow 50 hopefuls after performing in the swimsuit, evening gown and interview portions of the competition.
In the interview portion, the brunette beauty revealed that she first started taking taekwondo classes to help build up her confidence and protect herself. Sanchez also shared that she spent time in a women's shelter with her mother as child, which likewise motivated her to take on the self defense sport.
Nia spends her time volunteering at shelters and teaches women and children how to protect themselves. "I relate to them on a personal level because I've been there myself," she said of her charity work.
The Nevada native was given the crown from Miss USA's 2013 winner Erin Brady. The first runner-up was Miss North Dakota, Audra Mari.
